📍 Hair King @ 3245 Finch Ave E, Scarborough, Ontario
Hey everyone!
I’ve recently decided to switch up my look and dye my hair for the first time ever! And I’ve always been so proud of having virgin hair… but change can be a good thing 😉 !
I went to the hair salon by myself, E had actually introduced to me about this place because we were on the topic of hair dye and I’ve decided to go and see this place for myself as she mentioned good things about them.

I went on a Tuesday, around 2-3PM. There was only 1 customer who was getting his hair done. When I mentioned about wanting to get my hair did, the lady mentioned to the hair stylist (guy in my picture below) that I was the girl who called earlier, in Mandarin.
The funny thing is, I could have spoken to them with my horrible broken Mandarin, but chose to stick with English. Hair stylist guy doesn’t speak much English so the lady (who I think is the boss) was talking to me more regarding what colour I wanted, etc etc. After figuring out what I wanted, she conveyed to the hair stylist in Mandarin, hahaha.
I opted for a light brown colour, but I forgot my hair was black and non-bleached so the colour won’t show as light as I’ve envisioned. So I should have opted for a shade lighter than what I wanted so it’ll balance with my black hair base but I forgot……. 😭.
Hair stylist guy washed my hair 4 times after the dye process. FOUR TIMES! Is that common or unusual?
I also asked my bangs to be cut like front bangs, and he knew what I wanted, which was great. He also styled my bangs and made it poofy in the front like most Korean/Japanese styles would. I loved it! Because my hair is naturally flat and has no volume… I asked for my bangs to be trimmed a little bit shorter (after he was done) because I didn’t want them growing out so fast but I don’t know, 2nd trim didn’t seem to make a difference.

As you can see the differences, my hair colour isn’t actually that noticeable under regular light and it’s much brighter under the sun… which is why I wished I could have gotten one shade lighter. But someone mentioned that if it’s my first time, a little bit subtle is still okay. Although, many people complimented my hair colour even under regular light… so I’m not even sure if it’s subtle, hahaha.
Someone told me that dyeing hair is like an addiction – well we’ll see! I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated. If you guys have any hair tips or advice, let me know in the comments section as I am still new at this.
Till next time, ♥
