📍 35 William Street, Ottawa, Ontario
In search for some pasta, I thought this place was more of a casual bistro place but as we walked in… It turned out to be really fancy and I was underdressed!
We didn’t have to wait too long for our seats and we arrived around 4 – 5 pm. We were seated at a corner table and was serviced by multiple people. Our waitress came by to drop our menu off whereas a waiter came to bring us water… It was a tad confusing. Our table wasn’t properly cleaned as there were bits of parmesan cheese scattered around our table. They also use real mini candles for each table (super romantic). I found the lighting in the restaurant quite dim even though it was 5 pm outside with ample lighting.
We ordered two pastas – the Pescatore and Carbonara pasta. Service tend to be slightly slower with full-service restaurants but it was fine. We were given complimentary bread with olive oil and vinaigrette which is a combination I love so I enjoyed it though the bread was a little tough for my taste. Our food arrived together and a waiter came by to ask us if we wanted parmesan cheese and/or pepper and we opted for parmesan cheese.
The Pescatore pasta was so good! Had a good variety of seafood, such as clams, shrimps and scallops. I really liked the sauce too! Definitely hit the spot. Although I did make a mess on my clothing, spotted a splash of sauce on my top after… (sob). My friend’s Carbonara looked small at first sight but in the end, we agreed that the Carbonara seemed to have a bigger portion than the Pescatore pasta.
Overall, this place was also an okay-spot for a meal around the Byward Market area but I would recommend coming during dinner time instead of lunch as the pasta prices were the same in both timings. We only focused on the pasta section because that was what we wanted but Vittoria Trattoria also offers pizzas, veal, steak and antipasti!
Till next time, ♥
