I didn’t try poutine from the popular Smoke’s Poutinerie yet and since it was close by, we decided to check it out! We ended up going back for a second round because it was so good.
It was empty when we first arrived so we took our time looking at the menu. I settled for the Philly Cheesesteak Poutine which consisted of steak, mushrooms, onions, cheese sauce and red peppers, whereas my friend went for the Perogy Poutine which had perogies, bacon and sour cream. On our second round, we got the Bacon Cheeseburger (bacon, ground beef and cheese sauce) and Chilli Fries.
Service was great both times, the employee took the initiative to offer me utensils. If you’ve been to Smoke’s, you usually have to grab your utensils and condiments in separate area from the counter. It was nice of him to take that extra step and gauge the needs of customers instead of giving me my food and calling it a day. On the 2nd time, another employee even recommended adding Bacon to my Chilli Fries instead of Steak because it’s better.
The interior is small so most of the customers who dropped by took their food to go. We managed to find a spot on the bar counter and ate there. The meal itself was super huge!! I couldn’t even finish it because it was such a big serving for me. I only ate half and saved the other later, thus me ordering the Chilli Fries on my second visit. Unfortunately, I didn’t fall in love with any of the flavours we tried. All of the choices were decent, but I wish I had found a flavour that I could rave about. Each poutine was around $10 each so it’s more on the pricey side, but considering the size… I would say the price is fair.
PS – if you’re into stickers, Smoke’s had a bucket full of their logo stickers right at the counter.
Till next time, ♥
